Seriously, what a great way to end my exchange year! My friends threw me a goodbye party, I saw some old friends, and I visited an American friend and some exchange students that were in my school. I’m so excited to be going home and that was the best conclusion to my exchange year possible.

Yesterday I met a girl from my school who was in California this past year as an exchange student. It was really nice and reassuring to see how happy she was to be home (despite the awful weather here) and I’m getting more and more excited everyday to come home!!

Hi! I take it that you're American? Where in the US? And are you traveling with AFS? Just curious because I want to leave my suburban town in New Jersey study abroad to Germany in 2013-2014. I'm planning on applying for the CBYX scholarship this fall and see how it all turns out.

I’m a Michigander, born and raised! I’m with YFU, but I know YFU only offers the CBYX scholarship in the Midwest (so not New Jersey). Definitely apply! Not only does the scholarship cover your whole year, it also pays for your books, bus tickets, and school trips. You meet 350 amazing Americans and get to learn about German history and even go to Washington D.C. and Bundestag (German Congress). Good luck, and if you get the scholarship, you may see me in D.C (I plan on being a volunteer helper there)!
